Using the Pulse

Psychological Safety is not a single training event.  Establishing a culture of Psychological Safety takes ongoing personal and collective commitment to ourselves and one another, and keeping the conversation alive is key.

The S.A.F.E.T.Y.™ Pulse is designed for use with individuals and teams who have completed a S.A.F.E.T.Y.™ debrief or training and understand the model and language of  S.A.F.E.T.Y.™.  It is recommended that pulse users know their S.A.F.E.T.Y.™ profile and understand their personal S.A.F.E.T.Y.™ needs and triggers, and ideally understand the team’s S.A.F.E.T.Y.™ profile and collective S.A.F.E.T.Y.™ needs.

The Pulse is used as a reflection and discussion tool in ABL training and then in ongoing ‘Safety Checks’ to provide the opportunity for individuals and teams to:

• reinforce and practice learning
• monitor psychological safety health
• speak up and voice their needs
• increase trust and share vulnerabilities
• prioritize and normalize psychological safety dialogue
